Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.-
The submission follows the general structure and specific instructions pertaining to the applicable category of article as outlined in the CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or similar text format. The text and tables are presented in one document or file and the document is in a “straight text” format.
- The text is double spaced and presented in no smaller than 12-point font. Pages are numbered consecutively and acknowledgements (if applicable) are included (and either appropriately blinded or uploaded separately from the manuscript). References, figure captions, and tables, in that order, are also included after the text.
- Figures are uploaded as separate files, in high resolution. Figure types are categorized as one of the following: continuous-tone images, line-art images, or combination images.
- Where available, URLs for references have been provided.
- The manuscript is original, is not under consideration by another journal, has not been previously published, and has been approved by all authors. For textual material that has been previously published, please see the “Permissions for Previously Published Material” editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- The name, degrees, other credentials, and institutional affiliations, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number of the corresponding author, as well as the names, degrees, other credentials, and institutional affiliations of all coauthors, have been listed in the order in which they are to be published in a separate document from the manuscript for blinding purposes. (Please take note that all published work includes the corresponding author’s contact information to ensure the accountability and transparency of the work.)

Each author meets all 4 criteria for authorship recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and all individuals who meet these criteria are listed as authors. The ICMJE recommends that authorship be based on the following 4 criteria:
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
- Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
- Final approval of the version to be published; AND
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
- Every author (even corresponding authors) has completed and submitted their own ICMJE Form for Disclosure of Potential Conflicts of Interest. Before declaring any potential conflict(s) of interest, please review the “Declaring Potential Conflicts of Interest” editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- If applicable, authors have obtained written permission from all individuals named in the acknowledgements section (excluding those providing financial or technical support, since readers may infer their endorsement of data and conclusions).
- The “Avoid Plagiarism, Including Self-Plagiarism or Text Recycling” instructions have been followed (please refer to this editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).

The “Blinding for Peer Review” instructions have been followed if submitting in one of the following categories: Original Research, Brief Research Reports, Reviews, Innovations in Pharmacy Practice, and Case Reports. Please refer to this editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- If the manuscript is a case report, authors disclose whether the patient or guardian has given informed consent for publication. If such consent has not been obtained, the authors may be asked to remove potentially identifying information from the article. For further details, see the statement on “Patients’ right to privacy” in the “Case Reports” section of the CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).

The author(s) hereby agree that the submission adheres to CJHP’s editorial policies on the "Use of AI-Assisted Technologies", when applicable. Please refer to this editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- The author(s) hereby agree that the submission adheres to CJHP’s editorial policies on "Adherence to Reporting Guidelines". When applicable, the relevant completed reporting guideline checklist will be uploaded as a separate file and labeled “Research Checklist”. - The author(s) hereby confirm that, for research articles, the submission includes a Data Availability Statement in the Methods section, in accordance with CJHP’s editorial policy. Please refer to this editorial policy in CJHP’s Author Guidelines (Directives aux auteurs).
- In submitting this manuscript, authors acknowledge that they hereby transfer, assign, and otherwise convey all copyright ownership to the Canadian Society of Healthcare-Systems Pharmacy (CSHP).
Copyright Notice
After publication of a manuscript in the CJHP, the authors of the manuscript must obtain written permission from the CSHP (publications@cshp.ca) before reproducing any text, figures, tables, or illustrations from the work in future works of their own. If a submitted manuscript is declined for publication in the CJHP, all said rights shall revert to the authors. Please note that any forms (e.g., preprinted orders and patient intake forms) used by a specific hospital or other health care facility and included as illustrative material with a manuscript are exempt from this copyright transfer. The CJHP will require a letter from the hospital or health care facility granting permission to publish the document(s).
