Biography: Tammy Bungard
Tammy J Bungard, BSP, PharmD
Dr. Bungard graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with great distinction, completed a general practice residency at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, and her PharmD from Wayne State University in Detroit. In Edmonton, she then completed a research fellowship funded by the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. Currently, she is a tenured Full Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta and a strong advocate for advancing pharmacist practice. She founded the Anticoagulation Clinic at the University of Alberta Hospital, which helped pave the way for pharmacists in Alberta to gain prescriptive authority. She also contributed to the prescribing model (still used today) and assessment process for this privilege. In addition to serving as an adviser for pharmacy resident research projects, her research portfolio focuses on antithrombotic therapies, pharmacist practices, and clinical reviews/tools. She continues to practice clinically in the Anticoagulation and Thrombosis Clinics.
